Lino Tagliapietra Back at Centre College
We’re halfway through Lino’s stay in Kentucky and what a successful trip it has been thus far! Leaving from Murano, the Maestro joined Centre College for four days of master classes with students and public demonstrations.
From Centre’s Website:
The connection between Tagliapietra and Centre began in 1996 when he exhibited with Stephen Rolfe Powell ’74, Stodghill Professor of Art and founder of Centre’s renowned glass program. Four years later, Powell persuaded Tagliapietra to come to Danville with the promise of a trip to the Kentucky Derby.
In addition to demonstrations at the Centre glass studio in the Jones Visual Arts Center, Tagliapietra will also be working on large glass panels at Powell’s studio in the old Coca-Cola plant on Stanford Avenue.
Over the years, Lino has continued to revisit Centre College and it’s remarkable glass program. This particular trip marks his tenth visit to the school. Along with his marvelous team, Lino brought his stunning cane and murrini to create some incredible pieces. We are excited to see the outcomes and looking forward to sharing them with you all!
