This past week, Lino Tagliapietra was in Danville, Kentucky, blowing glass at the Jones Visual Art Center at Centre College. This was the Maestro’s 11th visit to Centre College! He first visited in 2000 at the invitation of Stephen Rolfe Powell, and has regularly returned to Kentucky to visit his old friend and the college.

With his glassblowing team, Lino worked in front of a public audience for three days last week, demonstrating his command of the medium to both students and fans. Lino blew a variety of vessels at the Jones Visual Art Center, including several Dinosaurs and Hopi’s. Check out the team at work!

The Maestro also produced a new panel, created by fusing a collection of blown vessels. It’s an immense amount of work with a spectacular pay off. In this special sneak peek, Lino takes a first look at the panel as it comes out of the annealer.

A big thank you to Stephen Rolfe Powell and the whole crew at Centre College for such a great week of glassblowing. Keep your eyes peeled for these new works coming in 2019!
